Well, well, well, do you like jazz? do you like anime? let’s say the truth, you don’t have to be a fan of this anime, or anime in general to hear this great masterpiece. Tank! is probably the best song of interpretative jazz that i ever heard. Seriously, if you like jazz you will be amazed by this. I leave it to you, i will let the music talk:

The Album that Made Sinatra great Again: Strangers in the Night [Spotify and Download links Inside]

The great! The Mighty Sinatra! This album recovered the previous fame that Frank had, in an era where the big band jazz was almost already dead. This great album took Sinatra again into the Nª 1 position of the pop charts, and what question can you have when you listen to Strangers in the Night, such a perfect song, i have to say that is the best tune in the album, rivaling only with All or Nothing at All, where you can listen a great big band jazz in action with a perfect solo at the middle of the tune.  I also enjoyed Downtown, the lyrics are very funny and the vibe makes you very happy.

[LatinoMusic] No solo vienen Arepas de Venezuela: Los Amigos Invisibles – The New Sound of Venezuelan Gozadera

Quieres escuchar al mejor grupo de funk latinoamericano? Si te gusta la música funk con letras divertidas que te hagan reír pues entonces Los Amigos Invisibles es lo que estabas buscando. Su álbum “The New Sound of Venezuelan Gozadera”  es un álbum lleno de delicioso funk que se derretirá en tus oídos. El grupo funk se originó en el año 1997 y fue un productor de la banda Talking Heads a quien encantaron con su sonido para finalmente hacerlos firmar por su discográfica. A partir de ello, el viaje para los amigos invisibles ha sido increíble y en esta oportunidad aterrizan con canciones como “UltraFunk“, un sonido fresco con funk de los 70s, “Sexy“, un viaje increíble de una sola jornada al mundo del disco funk, “Las Lycras del Avila“, perfecto para relajarse en la playa, la canción perfectamente sexy “Cachete a Cachete”,  y finalmente la canción que me llevó a conocerlos: “Ponerte en Cuatro”. Este album es un buen inicio al funk latino, prometo que lo amarás. Dale un play.

[Jazz Culture] “El Baile del Cadaver”, Wayne Shorter Speaks no Evil in his best album [Spotify Link]

The year was 1965 and the people involved in the album were some big names already in the jazz world: Herbie Hancock on the piano, Ron Carter on the bass and Shorter on the Saxophone.  The style in the album is post-bop, a genre that belongs to the mid fifties where the forms, tempos, and meter are freer, all the compositions are new, and the band members themselves are featured composers. This free style of sounds are very present along the album with songs like “Fee Fi Fo Fum”, the trumpet here played by Hubbard develop an incredible role, it undress your imagination and take it into a personal journey. The trumpet then is followed by a solo of piano from Herbie Hancock that joins together with the soft playing of the drums, just to explode at the end of the song and awakening from your incredible journey. “Speak no Evil” is dangerous, really marvelous, the piano and the saxo are in a battle, in a delicious battle were the only winner are your ears. “Dance Cadaverous” is a perfect piece that could give life to a dead body, i see in my head something like that when i heard it! It starts with soft trumpets and saxophones so the body could begin to wake up slowly and then it takes it to the highest places with the merge of everyone in just one note at the end.

Speak no evil is a must hear jazz album that will let you love the works of great musicians involved in the jazz world.

[Download] Amy Winehouse Hidden Treasures

Amy Winehouse was a great singer, way beyond our era, and even beyond her lifetime. In this posthumous album is a compilation from the producers Mark Romson, Salaam Remi and the family of Amy, to do this album, they had to listen hours and hours of Amy’s voice. Released in 2011, this album had to compete with The King of Limbs from Radiohead, 21 from Adele, El Camino from The Black Keys and even The Beach Boys with their Smile Sessions. Amy gives us in this album the best in RnB, Blues and Pop, this album will make you miss her because her voice and music style will never be be equaled. Back to Black and also special editions of previous songs.  This album reached the No. 1 in the UK albums charts on 2011. Our day will come, Between the Cheats and Will you still love me tomorrow? takes us back to the first album of Amy inspired by the music from the 50’s again. Pure touching R&B, soul and even jazz “Our day will come, and we’ll have everything”. Tears dry on Their Own(original version), the voice of Amy reflects perfectly the sadness in their soul and the band performs great following this. I have to say that this song moves me and make me sad. I like this ballad more than the version that was released in 2007 because transmits more feeling in it. Valerie (68 version), another classic song of Amy but this time with a faster tempo and with the guitar sound fresher making the song more danceable. The girl from Ipanema was another surprise for me in this album, Amy’s voice fuelled with softness to transmit the original feeling of the track is followed with a jazz band that changed the style from bossa to jazz. Half Time, a very touching song in chill out tempo, soft and sweet this song enters your mind and soul: “Halftime, time to think it through, consider the change, see it from a different view”. Wake up Alone (Original Recording), a smoother version, just a guitar, bass and just touches of drums, the voice of Amy could pierce your soul. At the end of the song the evidence of the passing life of Amy is revealed (for the album) because her voice is faded and disappears leaving the band playing solo. Body and Soul, this song begins with the original voice of Tony Bennett and then Amy, alternating in this way all the song. “Body and Soul” was recorded as a duet by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse on the 23rd of March 2011, it was the last recording from our friend Amy revealing their mature in her music and following the original style of the song, she was very nervous when she recorded this song given that Tony Bennett was a great leader for Amy. The album was a great finish for the career of Amy, specially with the Tony Bennett and Amy duet, she said one time: “Y’know what? Marvin Gaye‘s great, but Donny Hathaway, like, he couldn’t contain himself. He had something in him, y’know?”And i could say the same for Amy too. Rest in peace Lioness.
